A visionary at the forefront of Africa’s digital revolution, Edwin has redefined how high-end games, EdTech, and Mixed Reality can tell authentic African stories—blending innovation with culture to craft globally competitive experiences. Since starting his journey in 2018, Edwin has cultivated powerful partnerships with global giants such as Xbox, PlayStation, Microsoft, Nvidia, Xsolla, AWS Game Technologies, Base,Gamr Studios and 1CGamesStudio, positioning Chroma Pixel Games as a trusted player in the international gaming ecosystem. In 2021, he earned national recognition after winning the MTN Hackathon, a breakthrough that showcased his ability to merge cutting-edge tech with real-world solutions. Edwin is also among Africa’s leading voices in Web3 gaming, with Chroma Pixel Games actively building on the Base blockchain network. His influence extends across the globe—having represented the African video game industry at EURO Creative Week, Russia Creative Week, and international showcases in Singapore, China, and Japan. In Africa, Edwin Kapesa is widely regarded as one of the fathers of the video game industry. He is deeply committed to uplifting the ecosystem by mentoring and collaborating with indie studios like Adisi Games in the Republic of Congo and partnering with major studios across South Africa. His keynote appearances at global events, including the IDGA Conference, have further amplified Africa’s voice in the global development space.
