Presentation

Kakiota is a coworking and resource space located on the terrace of the Alliance Française de Dar es Salaam, inaugurated in October 2023. It is available free of charge to artists, students and members of the Alliance to offer them a workplace with collaborative spaces, an internet connection and individual offices. The Alliance Française's media library also offers over 200 resources accessible to Tanzanian artists and organizations (books, press, videos, podcasts, digital platforms, etc.), as well as to international artists visiting or in residence in Tanzania. As part of its mission to support cultural entrepreneurs, the Kakiota team relays weekly, via a dedicated WhatsApp group (over 500 members), calls for projects and opportunities open to artists based in Tanzania. In addition, the Kakiota space hosts free workshops, training courses and exchange sessions organized by local structures and entrepreneurs, according to their needs. Last but not least, the Alliance Française offers a free advisory and support service for artists and cultural organizations (setting up projects, seeking funding, networking, support for international events).

In 2024-2025, the team will be supporting 17 artist-musicians in the creation of their EPK.
