Contexte

France and Ghana (Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture - MoTAC) signed a Memorandum of Understanding on June 27, 2023 to support the expansion of the music industry in Ghana. Expertise France, worked in conjunction with the Creative Arts Agency (CAA) on this project to support the expansion of the music industry in Ghana.
This project is financed by France through the Agence française de développement (AFD) and the French Ministry of the Economy for a two-year period, with a 3-month extension from May 2023 to August 2025.
The project was built around the following observations: - Difficulties for Ghanaian artists to earn a decent income from their creations; - Lack of performance facilities, particularly medium-sized venues (a few hundred seats) offering year-round performances; - Fragile economic model of the main festivals.
The CAA called for closer cooperation between French and Ghanaian players in the fields of music remuneration, venue creation and event organization.
