Contexte

Program supported by the French Institute, currently managed by Cinémathèque Afrique as part of FEF Creation 2. This project supports around ten African creative labs working to develop new narratives and consolidate local production by African filmmakers. Initiated in 2016 and having produced convincing results, support for the structuring of regional labs will be strengthened by financial support of €110,000, enabling the previous year's contribution to be increased while integrating new structures.

The French Institute's “Parcours Cinéma” is part of a reinforced structuring dynamic with 14 structures on the continent that have demonstrated their expertise for several years.

This project is at the heart of a wide-ranging, continent-wide plan to coordinate the strategies of our Posts and our DCAIC/DDMMI departments at the French Institute in this major sector of the cultural and creative industries, reaching out to young people and new audiences.

Goals

Supporting the structuring of an industry dynamic
drawing on the Institut Français' in-house expertise and strengthening our partnerships with local players;
Meet emerging filmmakers and local cinema players in Africa,
renewing audiences and dialogue;
Dans le cadre du FEF perWithin the framework of the FEF, to enable the zone's posts to position themselves in this major sector in partnership with local professionals.

Expected results

Development of participants' skills, selection of projects for international festivals, professional integration of participants in their country's audiovisual sector, raising the profile of African cinema and filmmakers in Africa and internationally.
