To achieve its objectives, Africa Creative Sounds implements a range of targeted actions:
-Specialized training and workshops:
In partnership with leading music production experts, the programme offers intensive sessions focused on techniques such as sound design, immersive production, and the use of advanced technologies (Dolby Atmos, binaural sound, etc.).
-Creating collaborative networks:
By bringing together artists, producers, and other professionals from various African countries, the programme fosters knowledge-sharing and encourages cross-border collaboration. This includes creative camps and team-based songwriting sessions.
-Access to distribution platforms:
The programme works to integrate the created works into international distribution networks and digital platforms, enabling artists to reach global audiences and position African music within the broader audiovisual industry (film, TV, video games).
-Support for emerging talent and gender parity:
A strong focus is placed on including young talent and women in music production, DJing, and related professions—contributing to a more inclusive music scene that reflects the diverse sensibilities of the African continent.
Africa Creative Sounds aspires to become a catalyst for Africa’s music scene, amplifying the visibility and global influence of the continent’s talent.
By supporting the programme, the Institut français reaffirms its commitment to strengthening the cultural and creative industries in Africa, while celebrating the richness and potential of African music on the international stage.

Goals

  • Elevating the quality of African music productions:

Through workshops, artistic residencies, and training in advanced production techniques (mixing, mastering, scoring for screen, etc.), the programme aims to upgrade the skills of artists, producers, and sound engineers. The goal is to ensure that works produced in Africa meet international standards, increasing their potential for global distribution.

  • Strengthening key industry events:

The programme supports festivals, showcases, and other flagship events that play a vital role in promoting African music internationally. By partnering with these high-impact platforms, Africa Creative Sounds helps position them as influential stages for African talent and draws the attention of global industry professionals to the diversity and vibrancy of African music.

  • Facilitating international exposure for African talent:

Africa Creative Sounds builds partnerships with labels, streaming platforms, and international distribution networks to promote African artists and their work beyond the continent. This international component also relies on artistic exchange programmes and touring initiatives that enable artists to perform at major international venues and festivals.

Expected results

Development of a sustainable creative economy in Africa, stimulating employment and entrepreneurship in the music sector
Emergence of a distinct African sonic identity, contributing to the recognition and influence of African music on the global stage
Reinforcement of Franco-African cultural dialogue, by fostering exchanges between African artists and the French and European music industries
