The Creation Africa platform is made available to you under the responsibility of the Institut français, Paris, and your affiliated entities, under the conditions set out below
Processing of your personal data under the responsibility of the Institut français
The Institut français carries out various personal data processing operations concerning you for the following purposes:
- To register you and provide access to the services of the Creation Africa Platform ;
- To ensure moderation services on the Platform ;
- To store information transiting through the Platform ;
- To ensure the security of the information and the proper functioning of the Platform ;
- To enable the export or secure and facilitated transmission of your information to other users of the Platform or to French public institutions and administrative bodies – referred to as “authorized third parties” ;
- To publish calls for proposals co-managed by the Institut français, and to receive and process applications.
For these purposes, the Institut français acts as the data controller.
The categories of personal data processed may include, but are not limited to :
- Identification and contact data (e.g., first and last name, username, phone number, postal address, email address, social media accounts, where provided) ;
- Professional data (e.g., portfolio, past work, project and application history) ;
- Technical data necessary for connection, operation and securing of the Platform (e.g., login credentials, IP addresses, activity logs on the Platform) ;
- Any other information you voluntarily provide via description fields, comments, uploaded documents or application forms.
Processing of your personal data by other Organizations
Organizations holding accounts on the Creation Africa Platform may log in to publish calls for proposals, receive and process applications, or access the contact details of registered professionals from their artistic sector.
For the above-mentioned purposes, the Institut français acts as a data processor on behalf of these organizations, limiting its role to the storage of data.
These organizations may also process your personal data for additional purposes not covered by this Privacy Policy.
Each organization (independent from the Institut français) is responsible for informing you, within their calls for proposals or during direct communication, about any processing activities they undertake.
The Institut français is not involved in any data processing carried out by these organizations outside the Platform and is not informed of such processing modalities.
Data transfers
Your personal data is hosted by a service provider of the Institut français and may be stored in a Member State of the European Economic Area (EEA), or in a country that has received an adequacy decision from the European Commission (recognizing the country as ensuring an adequate level of protection for personal data).
Your data may be partially transferred or used for statistical analysis requested by French public bodies such as the Ministry of Culture or the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs.
Your personal data is never rented, exchanged, or sold.
Your data may be disclosed to any competent administrative or judicial authority as part of an investigation.
Cookies and trackers
The Institut français only uses strictly necessary cookies (called "functional cookies") or anonymous cookies on the Platform, for the purposes of ensuring its proper functioning and analyzing its usage.
These cookies are always active and do not require your consent, in accordance with CNIL recommendations.
Cookies and trackers may also be placed by social networks, video hosting services, or external websites linked to from the Platform. The Institut français is not a party to these third-party data processing operations. We recommend consulting the privacy policies of those third-party services or websites.
Data retention periods
Your account and associated data will be retained for as long as your account remains active.
After three (3) years of inactivity, your account and related data will be deactivated and then automatically deleted. You can avoid deletion by logging in periodically.
You may also request account deletion under the terms outlined in the "Your Rights" section below.
Application-related data may be retained outside the Platform by the issuing organization for longer durations : up to six (6) years for calls for proposals published by the Institut français.
For more details on retention periods applied by different project-issuing organizations on the Platform, please refer to their individual privacy policies or to the terms and conditions of the respective calls for proposals.
Your rights over your personal data
In accordance with Regulation (EU) 2016/679 (GDPR) and the french Loi Informatique et Libertés of January 6, 1978, you have the right to request the access, rectification, erasure or portability of your personal data. You can ask for the restriction or object to the processing of your data for future purposes. You also have a right post-mortem.

If you believe that your rights concerning the processing of your personal data have not been respected, you may file a complaint with the CNIL (French Data Protection Authority).
