Details

The "From Word to Stage" program is a flagship initiative of the Institut français, designed to support and promote contemporary French-language playwriting. This production fund aims to highlight authors and works that are often overlooked or rarely performed, by facilitating the creation of new productions. It is aimed at directors and authors residing on the African continent, in the overseas territories, as well as diaspora artists living in France. All phases of production may be supported (research, writing, creation, and distribution) provided there is at least one committed professional partner. For the 2025 edition, this program is open to the following applicants: directors, authors, companies, and collectives from the African continent, overseas territories, and diaspora artists living in France. Particular attention will be paid to projects taking into account the issues of eco-responsibility and gender equality.

Goals

  • Increase the means of production

  • Promoting unpublished dramatic texts by young French-speaking authors

  • Participate in the establishment of new broadcast networks
