The 2025 Documentary Film Fellowship, organized by the French Embassy in Nigeria in partnership with StoryMi Academy, is an intensive 4-month program for Nigerian documentary professionals. It offers full support, including financing, mentoring and training, for the production of an original 15-20 minute documentary short.

Details

What the program offers: - A ₦ 2,000,000 production grant to make a short documentary film. - Mentoring from experts such as Ike Nnaebue (director of No U-Turn) and Chika Oduah (journalist and award-winning director). - Hands-on workshops, storytelling labs and individual editing sessions. - The possibility of presenting the film at an international festival in January 2026 (depending on the quality and availability of the project). - Full coverage of travel and accommodation costs for face-to-face sessions.

Eligibility criteria

Being a Nigerian documentary professional

(director, producer, editor, visual journalist)

Living in Nigeria

Between the ages of 20 and 35

Available full-time from August to November 2025

Propose a non-fiction documentary project

(no fiction or re-enactments)

Previous experience in directing, producing or editing.
